Chinese Consulate-General in Melbourne jointly held the Tasmanian Investment Roundtable with the Tasmanian Government

The successful visit by President Xi Jinping to Tasmania last November has been fruitful. The "Tasmanian Investment Roundtable", co-hosted by Chinese Consul General to Melbourne Song Yumin and Tasmanian Minister for Development Matthew Groom, was intended to follow up on the outcome implementation of the visit and to deepen the bilateral cooperation on trade and investment. Over 30 Chinese businesses and service agents attended the event.

Consul General Song delivered opening remarks for the forum, in which he mentioned that the visit by President Xi has successfully lifted the bilateral relations to a new level in history, thus laying a sound foundation for our mutually-beneficial business cooperation. Tasmania boasts rich resource endowment including world-renowned dairy products, seafood and wine. This Roundtable is held in order to help the Chinese businesses learn more about the business environment in Tasmania and open up opportunities for two-way trade and investment.

Minister Groom said that President Xi's visit provides a rare historical opportunity for the future development of Tasmania. With rich resource endowment, Tasmania looks forward to more exchanges and cooperation with China, so as to bring out its untapped potential in trade, investment, tourism, higher education, Antarctic cooperation and more. The Tasmanian government looks forward to close cooperation with Chinese Consulate-General to provide assistance to the Chinese investors as much as they can.
